Lancashire Language Academy offers a range of engaging language courses right here in Lancashire. We are Spanish specialists, while also offering opportunities to learn other languages, taught by native and experienced teachers. Our aim is to create a space where language learning is inspiring, enjoyable, and tailored to every individual.

A Life Shaped by Language and Resilience

From a young age, I was fascinated by languages and the doors they open to new cultures, experiences, and opportunities. That passion led me to complete a degree in Modern Languages and a PGCE, which opened the path to teaching both here in the UK and in South America, delivering an engaging, wide range of language classes & courses, specialising in tailored Spanish classes & courses to students of different ages and abilities.

My journey has taken me far beyond the classroom. I’ve lived in Spain and Austria, and even left my entire life behind to live and teach in the Galápagos Islands among the giant tortoises, fully immersing myself in different ways of life. These experiences deepened my understanding of how language connects people across the world and ultimately led me to the realisation that I wanted others here to experience the empowerment that comes from learning another language and opened the world for me. And that’s how Lancashire Language Academy was born.

We have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and love the fact that we can now string sentences together in Spanish. Mollie is a great teacher. She is very patient and her style of teaching is so reassuring which has helped us grow in confidence. We have also had the pleasure of being taught by Pauline too, who is equally fantastic. We can’t wait to start the A1+ Spanish course soon to develop our Spanish further! Not only do you learn a new language at LLA you also make lovely friends too, who are all eager to learn. The lessons are based around small groups and are therefore fun and friendly. Mollie uses her knowledge to explain concepts in a way that are clear and understandable, even to the absolute beginner- like me! If you have ever wanted to learn a foreign language - Mollie will have you speaking, reading and listening almost immediately! Give Lancashire Language Academy a try, you won’t regret it!

Having retired and wanting to keep my brain active and learn a new skill, I started learning Spanish at the Lancashire Language Academy in September last year. I was very nervous and unsure if i could learn a new language however the classes are small which means I got to know my classmates quickly and we support each other. Mollie is a fabulous teacher, very encouraging and she takes the time to ensure the learning process is fun. I am now able to listen to and understand spanish as well as speak and read it. I am still on my journey and there is more to learn but I feel a sense of achievement and I can't recommend Mollie at Lancashire Language Academy highly enough.

Super subject knowledge and a fantastic way with the students. We learned a lot. Thanks so much - would highly recommend and will definitely use again. So glad I found you!

Lancashire Language academy has been such an amazing experience for myself, my wife and my daughter, we are planning on creating a new life in Spain in 3 years’ time and would like to be able to live like a local and converse with the natives in their own tongue. We have been on an off “Duo Lingoers” over the past few years but having actual in person teaching has helped my wife who could order a Fanta Limon or Naranja and that was her limitations, myself who thought I had a good grasp on basic Spanish was quite shocked with how little I knew. Mollie has helped us get from non-speakers to understanding a lot of words and starting to use them and string sentences together through visual, listening, speaking and practical methods, I even had the confidence to speak with several Spanish people on a recent trip to Spain, including ordering meals in a restaurant and asking for “ayuda en la supermercardo” when at the counter ordering some Jamon. Mollie is a friendly and patient teacher who quickly understands everyone’s learning needs and tailors the sessions to fit in the quicker learners and also the learners who may need some more time to grasp it as Spanish is a hard language to get to grips with, but once the irregular and regular conjunctive words are learned which you start to pick from the off, Spanish becomes a very logical language to learn and Mollie really know how to get you to understand that easily and muy rapido. The lessons don’t just stop in the classroom; there are little tasks to complete at home and Mollie is always on WhatsApp to answer questions you may have. We have booked onto our 2 set of lesson on the advanced course and can’t wait to continue our journey to fluency with Mollie. I have zero issues recommending Mollie only if it doesn’t leave me without a space on the course.

As a relatively new starter to Spanish and college/night school since about 30 years + ago and as a 'mature' adult student I was very apprehensive, even nervous when taking up this challenge. I had only ever dipped in to an online phone App and listened to a couple of CD's in the past and didn't really know what to expect.
Why on earth did I worry ?
Mollie and indeed the others on my course A1+ have made me feel extremely welcome (apart from 'On the bus' ha).
Mollies approach is fun, intuitive, at a pace and difficulty to suit all participants and always explained. The classroom environment is welcoming with the class size just right and the learning pathway provides an incentive for progression.
I've only done 2 lessons and cannot speak highly enough of what I've experienced so far. Hopefully I'll be able to progress to A2 in the new year and eventually right through to B1+ and then B2.
