Mollie – Founder of Lancashire Language Academy (Spanish and German teacher)
Hi, I’m Mollie – a fully qualified languages teacher with a degree in Modern Languages and a PGCE in Spanish and German. My passion for languages has taken me from studying in Valencia and Graz to teaching in the Galápagos Islands. Creating Lancashire Language Academy came from a deeply personal turning point; after being diagnosed with stage 4 blood cancer in my early 20s, I was forced to re-evaluate my life, and after beating it, I realised I wanted to build something meaningful that could positively impact others. Languages shaped my confidence, independence, and outlook, opening doors I never thought possible, which is why I created the academy – to help others experience those same opportunities, whether for travel, personal growth, or the joy of learning. I’m also passionate about the cognitive benefits of language learning; it’s powerful brain training that improves memory, focus, and problem-solving, making it especially valuable for older learners and retirees by keeping the mind active and boosting confidence. Outside of the academy, I love ice skating, gymnastics, and travelling, reflecting my belief in staying curious, active, and open to new experiences.
Carmen (Spanish teacher)
Hello! My name is Carmen, and I’m from Lima, Peru. I’m a journalist specializing in print and investigative journalism, and I’ve been teaching Spanish for five years. Here in England, I discovered my true calling and how much I love and enjoy teaching my native language to adults, young people, and children. I also love animals and cooking, especially Peruvian food.😊
Looking forward to meeting you at Lancashire Language Academy
Katie (Spanish teacher)
Hola! My name is Katie. I was a teacher in Spain for 12 years. I am now back in the UK, and I teach Spanish & French in a local high school. I also speak Italian and Portuguese, so you could say I’m obsessed with languages! When I’m not teaching, you can find me hiking up a mountain, reading non-fiction, and travelling (any excuse to practise my languages!). My favourite travel destination has to be Providence, a (Spanish-speaking!) island just off the coast of Nicaragua. It was paradise!

In my free time, I enjoy cooking and exploring new recipes, as well as travelling whenever I can. I am also very active and like running and cycling to stay fit. I often return to Italy to visit my family, who live in different parts of the country, both in the north and the south. I like teaching Italian and helping people connect with the culture.
Katia (Italian teacher)
Ciao! I’m a native Italian tutor with experience teaching students of all levels and age. I’m passionate about sharing not only the Italian language, but also its rich culture.
I’m a friendly and patient teacher who believes learning should feel enjoyable and natural.
My teaching style is flexible and I adapt the lessons to the student’s individual needs, goals and interests, whether you want to improve conversation, build confidence, or deepen your understanding of the language.
My goal is to make the students feel comfortable and motivated from the very beginning and nothing makes me happier than seeing them gain confidence and start speaking Italian with ease. Whether you’re a beginner or more advanced, I’ll support you in a relaxed and encouraging environment.
Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking traditional Italian food and watching opera and ballet.
