Primary School Spanish Provision
Primary School Spanish Programme (Years 3–6)
Inspiring a Love of Languages Through Real-World Learning
At Lancashire Language Academy, we believe that children learn best when they are engaged, active, and excited about what they are learning. That’s why our Primary School Spanish Programme for Years 3–6 is built around Project-Based Learning, helping pupils develop language skills through meaningful and memorable experiences.
Rather than simply learning vocabulary lists, pupils use Spanish to complete exciting projects, explore different cultures, solve problems, and communicate their ideas. This approach helps children develop confidence whilst making language learning enjoyable and relevant.
Supporting Schools
We understand that many primary teachers are expected to teach languages despite having little or no knowledge of the language themselves. Recruiting a specialist language teacher is often unrealistic for primary schools due to budget constraints.
Our programme provides a cost-effective alternative, giving schools access to specialist language expertise without the cost of employing a dedicated language teacher.
Why Invest in Languages at Primary School?
Language learning offers far more than learning how to speak another language. It helps children develop communication skills, cultural awareness, confidence, curiosity, and a broader understanding of the world around them.
Starting languages at a young age helps pupils:
- Develop positive attitudes towards languages before moving to secondary school
- Build confidence in speaking and listening
- Gain a strong foundation for future language learning
- Improve memory, problem-solving and communication skills
- Develop curiosity about other cultures and communities
Our programme also supports schools in developing cultural capital, giving pupils opportunities to explore different countries, traditions, lifestyles and perspectives beyond their local environment.
Curriculum Package
Schools can access our complete Spanish curriculum, including:
- Scheme of work
- Lesson plans
- Presentations and resources
- Assessment materials
- 2 hour staff training and CPD included
This option allows school staff to deliver the programme confidently using our ready-made resources.
School Partnership Package
Schools can also choose to partner with Lancashire Language Academy, with lessons delivered weekly directly by one of our specialist Spanish tutors.
This package follows the same curriculum and learning journey but removes the pressure of lesson planning and delivery from school staff, while providing pupils with access to specialist language teaching.
Supporting Ofsted Priorities
A well-planned language curriculum contributes to many areas that schools are encouraged to develop, including:
- A broad and balanced curriculum
- Cultural capital
- Personal development
- Communication and language skills
- Preparation for the next stage of education
- Pupil engagement and enrichment opportunities
Through exciting projects, cultural exploration and meaningful language learning, pupils develop skills and experiences that extend far beyond the classroom.
Unlocking the World Through Language Learning
Our mission is simple: to help children realise that a second language can open doors to new cultures, new opportunities and new experiences.
By making language learning fun, meaningful and accessible, we help pupils build confidence and develop a lifelong curiosity about the wider world.
